Vandalism at a Fort Worth elementary school early Monday morning caused more than $25,000 in damage.

At least one vandal broke into Meadowcreek Elementary School, located in the 2800 block of Country Creek Lane, around 3 a.m. The suspect, or suspects, wrote graffiti and set books and supplies on fire, which set off the sprinklers. Water from the sprinklers spread to other classrooms. In total, six kindergarten rooms were damaged.

Crowley ISD spokesman Anthony Kirchner said the vandals sprayed profanity and what appears to be gang graffiti in several classrooms. The district is still assessing the damage and trying to determine if anything was stolen.

“There are a lot of supplies here. There are teachers’ personal supplies in here,” said Kirchner. “We have district resources in here that will have to be replaced.”

Kirchner says all of the Crowley ISD campuses are equipped with surveillance cameras. Police are reviewing the footage from overnight to see if they can get any leads on those responsible for the damage.

District officials say if police are not able to identify any of the suspects in the video they will release the video and ask for the public's help.
