Forney wins first softball state title

FORNEY - The softball team from Forney High School are Class 5A State Champions.

In Austin on Saturday, the Lady Jackrabbits beat Richmond Foster 4-1.

The team dedicated the season to teammate Emily Galiano, who was killed in a car accident last year.

The Jackrabbits have also retired Emily’s number-six jersey.

"Play for Em" was the team's mantra.
