Former Plano student raises money to pay off others' lunch money debts

A Facebook post inspired a law student from North Texas to pay it forward to students at her former Plano elementary school.
Taylor Washington said the post challenged people to help their communities for the holidays. Using GoFundMe she raised more than $500 to cover all outstanding lunch money owed by students at Thomas Elementary School.
“I think everybody deserves an education and the last thing I think a student should be worried about is being hungry at school or where their next meal is coming from,” Washington said. “Their education is the most important thing and that should be the only thing they have to focus on.”
Washington said she hopes her actions will inspire others to help their communities as well.
