Firefighter injured in condominium fire

Firefighter injred in condo fire in the Oak Lawn are of Dallas.

A firefighter was injured when he fell through the floor while battling a fire at a condominium complex in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas.

The complex is in the 4500 block of Gilbert Avenue, near the Dallas North Tollway and Lemmon Avenue.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, they could see fire coming from a chimney. As they battled the fire, part of the roof gave way.

"We had one firefighter that did fall through the roof of the third floor down to the second floor. That firefighter did sustain some non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital,” said Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans.

The firefighter is expected to be released from the hospital by Monday morning.

At least three condominiums were damaged.

No one else was hurt.
