Ex-Dallas mayoral candidate arrested for '666' taggings

Dallas City Hall gadfly and ex-mayoral candidate Richard Sheridan was arrested in connection with a series of "666" spray paint incidents across the city.

Sheridan was specifically charged for two spray paint incidents: the Legacy of Love monument in Oak Lawn and a church.

The base of the statue was vandalized, along with graffiti left at parking lots at the Cathedral of Hope. The statue is often the site of rallies for the LGBT causes and the Cathedral of Hope is a church with a primarily LGBT membership.

Sheridan faces two state jail felonies for tagging "666" at the locations. Police said Friday the charges could be upgraded to third degree felonies if it's proven they specifically targeted the gay community.

Police said Sheridan was arrested Friday at his home without incident.
