Drunk driving suspected in crash that killed 5-year-old

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Police in suburban Dallas have charged a driver with intoxication manslaughter following a single-car crash that killed a 5-year-old girl and injured two more children and three adults.
 

Arlington police say they received reports around 9:30 a.m. Saturday of a Mercury Grand Marquis losing control and crashing into a telephone pole.
 
The impact knocked out power to some areas, and 5-year-old Deunna Fairchild later died of injuries she sustained.

Five other people in the car were hurt, though updated details on their conditions were not released.

The driver, 25-year-old Valencia Freeman, has been charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, and two counts of intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury.
 
She is being held in the Arlington jail. There was no record of her having an attorney.
