A domestic disturbance that led to a standoff in Carrollton Friday morning ended with the suspect in handcuffs.

Mushtag Khal, 34, was taken into custody around 10:30 a.m. and will be charged with aggravated assault of a deadly weapon.

The standoff at his home on Country Place Drive began before 4 a.m.  Someone reported a domestic disturbance involving a husband and wife and said there were shots fired.

People in the neighborhood off Marsh Lane and Belt Line Road were asked to stay indoors while police tried to negotiate with Khal.

Police believed he was armed and were unable to make contact with him for several hours. But, his wife did make it out of the house safely.

SWAT officers eventually entered the home and found Khal hiding.

Police said he was arrested for assault and family violence four years ago.
