Dallas police took a man into custody after finding a woman dead late Wednesday night.

The woman was shot just before midnight in her home near Garland and Easton roads, not far from White Rock Lake.

Police said officers were already in the neighborhood investigating calls about gunfire when they heard another shot and a faint voice asking for help.

The officers found a man on the floor near a weapon. Police said he was having a medical emergency and was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.

A woman was also found in the home covered in a sheet. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said it appears to be a case of domestic violence. They believe the man was the shooter and have charged him with murder.

The man and the woman’s names have not yet been released.
