Dallas siblings drown while vacationing in Tampa

A boy from Dallas drowned in a Tampa motel pool over the weekend, and his sister has also now passed away.

The siblings, who were in the area on a church trip, were found unresponsive in at the Clarion Inn Hotel swimming pool Sunday afternoon.

Rescuers pulled 12-year-old Sebastano Greco and his 17-year-old sister, Kesha, from the pool unresponsive. Deputies and firefighters performed CPR on both of them, but they were unable to save the boy.

“The children were already out of the swimming pool, and some bystanders were performing CPR deputies and fire-rescue took over,” explained Cristal Nunez with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. “Immediately, it was noticeable the male was not going to make it, and he was pronounced deceased.”

Kesha was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition. The sheriff’s office on Wednesday confirmed she had died.

According to their pastor, the siblings were in Tampa along with other members of New Life Church of North Texas celebrating the start of summer vacation. Investigators say several people were in and around the pool, including adults, when the Grecos went under. They're trying to figure out what went wrong.

“We're still reviewing surveillance video, trying to enhance it and get a better idea of what happened,” Nunez said. “We’re completing interviews with everyone who was there by the pool, also with the family trying to get a better idea of exactly what happened.”
