Dallas police shoot knife-wielding woman outside restaurant
DALLAS - A Dallas police officer shot a woman who threatened them with a knife at a northwest Dallas fast food restaurant.
It happened around 4:40 a.m. at the Golden Chick on Northwest Highway and Webb Chapel Road, in the Bachman Lake area.
Dallas Police Department Deputy Chief Thomas Castro said a woman called 911 to report that she had broken into the restaurant. Responding officers found her still inside the building.
Castro said the suspect was armed with a knife and refused to drop it despite the officers’ loud verbal commands. The officers tried to use a stun gun on her but it was ineffective, Castro said.
She then raised the knife and walked toward the officers. Castro said that’s when one officer fired his weapon and shot her in a nearby parking lot.
The woman was taken to a local hospital in an unknown condition. No officers were hurt.
DPD is still investigating the case and the officers involved will be placed on routine administrative leave.
