Crash kills three Dallas Baptist University students

DALLAS - Three Dallas Baptist University students were killed Saturday morning in an accident in South Dallas.

The fatal crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on Mountain Creek Parkway, near Camp Wisdom Road.

Police said the driver of a truck lost control while going around a curve and hit a utility pole. The vehicle flipped into a nearby ditch.

DBU identified the victims as Will Smith, of Bullard, Justin Schubert, of Cleburne, and Djordje (DJ) Sarenac, of Eastern Europe. The school asked for prayers for their families.

A prayer service was scheduled for students on campus at Pilgrim Chapel on Sunday at 9 p.m. Counseling will also be available.

Oncor crews were called in to repair the utility pole and restore power to people in the area after the crash.
