The city of Fort Worth celebrated a milestone in the construction of the new Dickies Arena on Monday.

The final beam was raised into place around 11 a.m. Construction crews refer to that as topping out.

When the arena opens in about a year and a half it will be a state-of-the-art multipurpose facility right next to the Will Rogers Memorial Center.

It will seat up to 14,000 people for concerts, sporting and entertainment events and the Fort Worth Stock Show’s rodeo performances.

The project is partially funded by the city of Fort Worth, Tarrant County the state of Texas and private donations.
