Chipotle temporarily closes West End restaurant
DALLAS - Chipotle is temporarily closing its West End restaurant following claims in July that a rodent fell from the ceiling.
“We have temporarily closed the Chipotle restaurant in Dallas’ historic West End District at 208 North Market Street so we can continue to thoroughly assess the construction of this 100-year-old building,” Chipotle spokeswoman Quinn Kelsey said in an email to FOX 4.
In July, customers posted photos and video that they claim showed a rat scurrying on the floor of the restaurant. The video has since been deleted on Facebook but still exists on Twitter.
Kelsey acknowledged the incident after it happened.
“Yesterday we did learn that mice got into one restaurant from the outside. Management immediately removed the mice and then contacted professionals who identified a small structural gap as the likely entry point, which is being repaired. We’ve been in touch with our customers to offer our apologies. This is an extremely isolated incident and, of course, it’s not anything we’d ever want our guests to encounter,” she told FOX 4 at the time.
The spokeswoman said employees at the West End restaurant have given the option of relocating to other locations.
“We regret any inconvenience and will reopen only when we are certain the building meets all Chipotle standards for operation,” Kelsey said.
