Child abuse suspect commits suicide during Dallas standoff
DALLAS - A child abuse suspect shot and killed himself during a standoff with police in Dallas.
Around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday the Dallas Sheriff’s Office said deputies tried to serve two warrants for injury to a child to a man in an apartment in the 7500 block of Holly Hill Drive, near Walnut Hill Lane and Greenville Avenue.
As the deputies approached the man he refused to surrender and started making threats. A SWAT team was called in.
The sheriff’s office said the man shot and killed himself after about four hours of negotiations.
His name has not yet been released.
