Car lot owner found dead in Kaufman County

TERRELL, Texas - A woman found her husband’s body at his car dealership in Kaufman County Monday night.

The Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department said it received a 911 call from the wife around 10:30 p.m. She said she had been trying to reach her husband and he wasn’t answering his phone, so she went to his office to check on him.

The sheriff’s office said the 32-year-old man was fatally shot inside a small office building at Reta Auto Sales on County Road 236 near Terrell. His wife found him in a pool of blood and ran to a nearby home to call for help.

Investigators are treating the case as a murder. They’re looking for surveillance video and going door-to-door to find out if neighbors saw anything.

They do not have a motive yet, but they’re looking into the possibility that it was a robbery. The man may have been showing someone a car at the time, the sheriff's office said.

The victim's identity has not yet been released.
