Bird ordered to remove all scooters in Frisco

A couple hundred rental scooters that suddenly popped up on the streets and sidewalks of Frisco are no longer there.

A crew from Frisco’s code enforcement department was out rounding up Bird scooters early Monday.

The company put them out around the city two weeks ago. But city leaders said it was done without permission and without notice.

Several businesses and residents complained so Frisco gave Bird until 8 a.m. Monday to remove the scooters. Code enforcement stepped in after Bird missed the deadline.

The city council will hold a special meeting Tuesday to consider a moratorium on the scooters.

The Frisco mayor said he’s open to the idea of electric scooter rentals but wants regulations in place first.
