Barricaded person found dead after standoff in Fort Worth

FORT WORTH, Texas - Someone was found dead in a far west Fort Worth home after a standoff with police.

Officials said the person was barricaded inside a home on Maverick Drive near Chapel Creek and White Settlement roads around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Police and SWAT surrounded the home and after several hours went inside. They found one person dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Streets in the neighborhood were blocked off during the standoff.
