Attorney in court for woman accused of Dallas dentist's murder

The lawyer for the woman accused of plotting the murder of a Dallas dentist says it could be a year or more before she’s tried for capital murder.

Brenda Delgado was returned to Dallas last week from Mexico. She allegedly fled the country after hiring Kristopher Love to kill her romantic rival, Dr. Kendra Hatcher, last September.

She also allegedly hired Crystal Cortez to drive the getaway car after the fatal shooting in the parking lot of Hatcher’s upscale Dallas apartment complex.

Prosecutors said she promised Love and Cortez payment in the form of drugs and money from a drug cartel. All three suspects are now charged with capital murder.

Delgado’s attorney was in court Tuesday for a hearing. He explained she went to Mexico because she didn’t have the money to hire an attorney.

She is being held in the Lew Sterrett jail a $1 million bond.
