Suspect Crystal Cortes

A woman in her early 20s is under arrest in connection with the murder of a Dallas dentist who was killed in the parking garage of her uptown Dallas apartment.

Police announced the arrest of Crystal Cortes Saturday morning.

On Friday, someone went to the Dallas Police Department Headquarters to tell officers he loaned his Jeep Cherokee to someone, who then loaned the vehicle to Cortes. He had seen the pictures of the vehicle on the news related to Kendra Hatcher’s death.

Cortes was identified by police and voluntarily went to the Dallas Police Department Headquarters, where she told detectives she was paid $500 to drive a male to Gables Park 17 on Cedar Springs Road to rob Kendra Hatcher.

Cortes told police once they were at the property, the male got out of the Jeep, shot Hatcher and stole several items from her.

Detectives were able to corroborate Cortes’ statement through witness statements and surveillance video from the scene.

Cortes' bond is set at $500,000.
