Arlington teen uses key to fight off attempted kidnappers

Police say an Arlington Lamar High School student used her apartment key to fight off a man who tried to grab her.

The incident happened Thursday afternoon near the 15-year-old's home on Furrs Street.

Police say there were two men involved, but one of them did not approach the student. Investigators say the men were in a dark four-door sedan.

The descriptions of the men are vague. They are described as black men in their 30s. One of them was wearing a hoodie and one had on a white tank top. However, police believe one of them may now have an eye injury from fighting with the young girl.

The girl reported to officers that she had her house key in her hand and started kind of making a backward motion with the key and actually struck the suspect in the eye. She remembers the suspect yelling about his eye before letting go. She then ran to her apartment.

Police do not believe this incident is related to a string of attacks on joggers in North Texas.
