1 killed in Hill County house explosion
OSCEOLA, Texas - Several fire departments responded to a deadly house explosion in Hill County Wednesday morning.
The home was in the 1200 block of County Road 934 in Osceola, which is about 60 miles south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Investigator Jeff Winningham with the Hill County Sheriff’s Office said it was completely destroyed by an explosion around 4:30 a.m. A passing motorist actually called 911 to report hearing a rumbling in the distance and then seeing the debris field.
Firefighters who responded to the home found the body of a 94-year-old man inside. He lived there alone, Winningham said.
The investigation is still ongoing but officials suspect a propane leak in the house may have caused the blast.
The victim's name has not yet been released.
