DALLAS - At least one person was killed and several others were hospitalized because of a major accident on Interstate 35E Monday morning.
It happened around 10:30 a.m. on southbound I-35E near the Royal Lane exit. Dallas Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Evans confirmed six to eight were involved including two 18-wheelers.
One person died at the scene. Two other people were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, Evans said.
According to Dallas County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Melinda Urbina, the area will likely be closed for a while because of the investigation and cleanup.
A hazmat team must clean up diesel fuel that spilled on the highway.
