Molasses Smokehouse Beans

Molasses Smokehouse Beans from Robbie Shoults at Bear Creek Smokehouse

1 15 oz. can Red Kidney beans drained
1 15 oz. can White beans drained
1 15 oz. can Black beans drained
1/4 lb smoked bacon
1/2 lb smoked sausage
1  onion diced
1 poblano or jalapeno pepper diced
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup molasses
1/4 cup bbq sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
2 TBS Worcestershire
1 TBS Mustard
2 TBS Cider vinegar
 
Dice bacon into a large pot and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Add onion and pepper to the bacon and cook until browned. Add remaining ingredients to the pot and place in oven at 225 for about 2 hours. If beans start to dry out, stir in 1 cup water and cover. This recipe is perfect to put on your outdoor smoker as well and will take on even more smoked flavor the longer you cook. A great side for an outdoor BBQ or can be a complete meal in itself prepared indoors.
