Christmas store opens to help people in need

Christmas will be brighter for thousands of needy North Texas kids thanks to Mission Arlington.

Each year the nonprofit organization transforms its warehouse into a giant Christmas store. Volunteers make sure the shelves are constantly stocked with a wide variety of new, donated toys.

The mission is open to any North Texas family in need of toys during the holiday season.

“When they come in they are paired with a shopper. So somebody carries their bags. Somebody helps them find what they are looking for. Somebody carries their bags out to the car after they go through the gift wrapping station. So the whole experience is fabulous,” said Kelly Mohorc, a volunteer for Mission Arlington.

Last year Mission Arlington gave toys to nearly 30,000 kids. This year’s Christmas store is open through Dec. 22 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. excluding Sundays.
