Chocolate Stout Pancakes with Raspberry Sauce
Ben Zimmerer from Whiterock Ale House makes pancakes with a surprise. The restaurant brews its own beer that's used in almost every recipe.
Chocolate Stout Pancakes with Raspberry Sauce
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
3 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 large egg
1/2 cup stout or brown ale (like Bonnie Barge)
2 Tbsp melted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt and cocoa powder in a large bowl. Whisk together until well combined.
In a separate bowl, stir buttermilk, beer, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until lumpy.
Preheat griddle over medium heat; grease with butter or cooking spray.
Drop about 1/4 cup scoops on the hot griddle. Allow to cook until the edges look dry and bubbles appear in the middle. Flip and continue to cook until cooked about two minutes per side. Serve with raspberry maple syrup, whipped cream and fresh berries, or chocolate sauce.
