Childhood health crisis leads to heart-felt career

One Dallas nurse helps comfort others battling heart disease using her own experience.

“I was born with congenital heart disease and it was undiagnosed. At 9 months my family found out I had Tetralogy of Fallot,” said Erin Hunter. “The doctors and nurses I became fond of and got to know really impacted my life.”

After several surgeries, Hunter was able to have a healthy childhood.

And the experience inspired her career. She now works at Children’s Health in Dallas in the cardiac unit helping patients with heart issues.

She shared her story with Good Day FOX 4 on National Wear Red Day to raise awareness of heart disease.
