2017 Backpack Boosters school supply drive

Beginning Wednesday, July 19 through Tuesday, August 1, shoppers can visit any North Texas Kroger store to give money toward a pre-packaged Backpack Boosters school supply kit for $7 featuring pencils, markers, notebook paper and other classroom essentials or donate $1, $3 or $5 at the register to help local students have a great school year.

The two-week collection drive aims to equip thousands of students with the necessary tools for the 2017-2018 academic year. Having the proper school supplies are vital to a child’s academic progression.

Regardless of a student’s socio-economic environment, no child should have to go without having the tools needed to succeed in the classroom. The Backpack Boosters school supply drive will help fill the gap and prepare nearly 70,000 students for the year ahead.

The 2017 program will benefit Arlington, Burleson, Dallas, Desoto, Fort Worth, Garland, Grand Prairie, Irving, Crowley, Cedar Hill, Lancaster and Plano ISDs.

In 2016, $475,924 was collected, which benefited 67,989 students.

KDFW FOX4 and KDFI My 27 are partners in the Backpack Booster drive.
