RoughRiders wear Dallas PD hats, raise money for police foundation

The Frisco RoughRiders are calling all fans to help the team support those affected by the deadly ambush shootings in downtown Dallas on Thursday. The minor league baseball team is hosting a series of events to aid the fallen officer's families and provide financial assistance to those who were injured.

On Friday, the RoughRiders wore Dallas Police Department hats to honor the fallen officers. Hats were auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting the Assist the Officer Foundation. The team will wear the DPD hats again on Saturday during the game.

During Saturday batting practice the Riders will wear DART hats and auction them off during their game with proceeds going to the foundation. The Assist the Officer Foundation helps officers and their families who may be in need of financial help.

The RoughRiders hosted "Salute to 8-Bit and Arcades Night" on Friday and had a jersey silent auction at the arcade game area that directly benefited the foundation.

The RoughRiders will also have a special "Pass the Boot" donation during the weekend games with donations going directly to the foundation. There’s an Assist the Officer Foundation donation box located at the top of section 114 at the Dr.  Pepper Ballpark. 10 percent of all RoughRiders team store sales and a portion of all concession sales will also benefit the foundation.

Saturday's game begins at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday's game begins at 6:05 p.m.
