We are starting to get an idea of what new Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer's staff could look like.

Eberflus under consideration for defensive coordinator job

Former Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus is under consideration to be the next defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, according to NFL Network reporter Jane Slater.

What we know:

Eberflus isn't a stranger to Dallas. He was a defensive assistant under Rod Marinelli on Jason Garrett’s staff from 2011-2017.

The Bears fired Eberflus on Nov. 29, following a 23-20 loss to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day.

Former Dallas Cowboys defensive backs coach Al Harris, considered by some to be a candidate for the defensive coordinator job, took a job with the Bears.

The Cowboys will face the Bears at Solider Field at some point during the 2025 season.

What we don't know:

The NFL's Rooney Rule, requires teams to interview at least two minority candidates for vacant head coach, GM and coordinator positions.

At this point, we don't know what other candidates the Cowboys are considering.
