LOS ANGELES - Former Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončić is expected to make his first appearance for the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.

What we know:

Luka Dončić is expected to play against the Utah Jazz in Los Angeles on Monday night.

Dončić has not played since he injured his calf on Christmas Day. 

The 25-year-old Slovenian superstar was traded from the Mavericks to the Lakers ahead of last week's trade deadline, angering Mavericks fans.

Mavs fans protest Luka Doncic trade outside of AAC

Hundreds of Dallas Mavericks fans showed up outside the American Airlines Center to protest the team's first home game since trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. Fans expressed their displeasure with GM Nico Harrison and Mavs ownership near the Dirk Nowitzki statue.

Fans protested the trade outside of the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday.

The Mavericks are also expected to play on Monday night, but Anthony Davis, the centerpiece of the Dončić deal, will not suit up after injuring himself in his first game with Dallas.

What we don't know:

We won't officially know if Luka will suit up until closer to gametime.

ESPN rearranged its schedule on Saturday to broadcast the Lakers game in anticipation of his debut, but Dončić sat out due to his injury.

Even if Dončić does play, we don't know how long he will be on the floor Monday night.

Because he has not played in over a month, he could be on a minutes restriction against the Jazz.
