Arkansas oilman Jerry Jones bought the Dallas Cowboys 30 years ago today.

Jones did not start off on a good note with many fans by firing head coach Tom Landry and hiring his college friend Jimmy Johnson.

But the team did win back to back Super Bowls before Johnson left. He was replaced by Barry Switzer, who also won a Super Bowl in 1996.

Jones also gave the team a new stadium in 2009 and hosted the Super Bowl in 2011.

He has since been added to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
