Young Dallas teen hurt in drive-by shooting

A teenager was seriously injured in an overnight shooting outside a Dallas apartment complex.

It happened just before midnight Monday in the 300 block of Jim Miller Road. The boy was sitting on a stairwell when someone opened fire and he was shot in the foot.

Responding officers chased an SUV they saw leaving the scene. It eventually pulled into a store parking lot and five people got out. Three were taken into custody and two other suspects ran off.

The suspects tried to break into a nearby home, but were chased off by the owner. Officers caught one of the suspects. The fifth suspect remains at large.

Police believe the boy who was shot was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. They do not think he was an intended target.

His foot injury is serious, but not life threatening.
