Wounded Fort Worth officer to be released from hospital next week
A wounded Fort Worth officer will be released from a North Texas rehabilitation hospital next week.
Police said Officer Matt Pearce will be released on Tuesday and escorted home by his fellow officers.
Pearce was shot five times in March while chasing a fugitive and his son. Ed Mciver Sr. was killed in the return fire and his 21-year-old son, Ed Mciver Jr., is now facing several charges including attempted capital murder.
Numerous fundraisers were held throughout Tarrant County to raise money for Pearce’s medical expenses.
Police said Pearce will stay at home and rest before “beginning the next phase of his recovery in Houston.”
More details about Pearce’s release will be given next week.
