Woman, two children die in crash on I-30

Police in Grand Prairie said a woman and two small children are dead after a crash Friday night.

Investigators said the accident happened around 9:10 p.m. on westbound I-30 at the Belt Lind Road exit.

They said Demitiri Gomez, 26, of Irving was driving a Honda Civic at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the car.

Police said the vehicle flipped over the ramp and collided with a concrete light pole base.

Monica Lopez, 29, of Irving also died at the scene of the crash, according to police.

Alexxia Gomez, 4 and Armani Gomez, 3 were transported to Children's Medical Center of Dallas where both died from their injuries.

Demitiri Gomez, the driver, is hospitalized in stable condition.

Police said the children were in regular seat belts, not child safety seats.

Investigators said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the fatal crash.
