Woman dies after shooting at Fort Worth mall parking lot

Fort Worth police are calling the murder of a woman outside Ridgmar Mall on the West Side a case of domestic violence.

The shooting happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. Monday in the mall parking lot near Dillards. Responding officers found a woman in a car who had been shot several times. She was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.

The woman’s name has not yet been released. Police also have not named the suspect but said they believe he shot himself late Monday during a police chase in Temple, Texas.

According to KXXV, law enforcement officials in Salado and Bell County chased a silver Chevy that matched the description of the Fort Worth murder suspect’s vehicle. The suspect allegedly committed suicide after stopping on Interstate 35.

The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office confirmed it assisted Fort Worth PD briefly Monday afternoon in checking on a suspect's home in Terrell, but he was not home.

A sheriff spokesperson said the department has dealt with this person before in the past couple of months when he barricaded himself in his house briefly and wouldn't come out.
