UNT murder suspect back in Denton County

DENTON, Texas - The man suspected of murdering a University of North Texas student on New Year’s morning is now back in Denton County.
Officials said Eric Jamal Johnson was transported from Yuma, Ariz. to the Denton County jail overnight. He was arraigned Thursday morning and his bond was set at $1 million.
Sara Mutschlechner died after being shot in the head during a verbal altercation with Johnson on the road. Posts and photos on social media helped investigators track him down.
Johnson, a Marine corporal, was arrested when he reported for work at an air station in Yuma. He has since been “administratively separated from the Marine Corps under other than honorable conditions.”
Police said Johnson has admitted his responsibility in the shooting. They’ve also recovered what is believed to be the murder weapon.
