Teen nearly drowns in Irving apartment complex pool

Witnesses helped rescue a teenager who nearly drowned in an Irving apartment complex swimming pool.

It happened around 9 p.m. Monday night at the Steeplechase Apartments near Walnut Hill and Beltline Road.

A 16-year-old boy jumped into the deep end of the pool, but couldn’t swim. His 21-year-old brother jumped in to try to help him, but he also couldn’t swim. He held onto the side and pulled his brother out.

Another witness started CPR on the 16-year-old until paramedics arrived. He was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition. At last check he did have a pulse.

There is now a lock on the gate to the pool. Neighbors told FOX 4 they’ve never seen it before.
