DETROIT (WJBK) - A loud explosion and a bright flash has left many people across Michigan and other parts of the Midwest wondering what happened but the National Weather Service has the answer.
Reports poured in of an Earth-shaking explosion and a bright flash across SE Michigan around 8:10 pm Tuesday.
The United State Geological Survey said that the meteor registered enough force of a 2.0 magnitude earthquake.
Calls have come from Ann Arbor to Detroit and beyond reporting the incident and people in states including Illinois and Indiana have also reported the same noise and flash. The National Weather Service said it was not thunder or lighting and that it appears to be a meteor.
Video time stamps indicate the time of the flash happened at about 8:08 p.m.
