State rests in funeral home trial

The state has rested its theft case against a former Fort Worth funeral home owner.

More relatives of the people whose bodies were left to decay in a Fort Worth mortuary told their stories Monday to a jury.

Dondre Johnson is on trial for theft, accused of taking thousands of dollars from people who wanted their loved ones cremated.

Michelle Jones McElhanon says she received ashes that Johnson told her belonged to her mother, Karen Jones.

Later, she learned her mother was among eight bodies found decomposing in the Johnson Family Mortuary.

The defense presents its case Tuesday morning.
