Search begins for new Plano ISD board trustee after sudden resignation

The Plano ISD board met Thursday to discuss finding a new trustee after a board member and the superintendent suddenly resigned.

The district still hasn’t stated why board member Greg Myer and superintendent Brian Binggeli resigned, just saying their departures were unconnected. Myer said he was leaving for personal reasons.

Last week the board president would only say the departure of Binggeli was a matter of "differing philosophies” but didn’t elaborate on a cause. The district also said it was in no way connected to the resignation of Myer.

The board said on Thursday it is moving forward aggressively to fill the vacancy and discussed the timeline in the process. The board president said the stress of the board position is something applicants should carefully consider.

“It's not just two meetings a month, it's so much more than that - as you can see this morning we've already been here for several hours already,” said Missy Bender.

Sara Bonser was named the interim superintendent last week.
