Report: Missing Grand Prairie couple died in murder-suicide

An autopsy report determined the man who is believed to have killed a Grand Prairie mother also killed himself.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner lists Alfonso Hernandez’s cause of death as suicide by drowning.

Hernandez and his girlfriend, Weltzin Garcia, disappeared in February.

His body was found in White Rock Lake. Six weeks later, a kayaker found Garcia’s body in Mountain Creek Lake.

Garcia’s family said police told them Hernandez strangled her and dumped her body in the lake after he was accused of hitting her.

The family is now caring for the couple’s two young children.
