Police: Purse thieves targeting Asian women at nail salons
Several North Texas police departments are on the lookout for a pair of purse snatchers who appear to be targeting Asian women.
Many of the thefts have happened at nail salons and are similar to a recent theft caught on surveillance video.
Police say the thieves wait for women leaving businesses to set their purse in their car passenger seat. Then, the crooks sneak over, open the door and grab it.
Police have been asking the Asian community to spread the word and to keep a watchful eye out.
"If you see people standing around that just look out of place or acting suspicious, call us,” said Arlington Police Lt. Chris Cook.
“If we be careful, they cannot do that,” said nail salon owner Ann Duong. “If you don't be careful, they do that. You have to look around before you go in the car.”
Police in Grand Prairie, Arlington and Irving have all reported purse snatchings within the last month.
