Police: Many injured after 16-year-old crashes into van

Several people are recovering from a crash involving a van carrying a mariachi band and a car in Oak Cliff.

Police said a gray 2012 Chevy Camaro rear-ended a Ford van that was stopped at the red light at 300 South Westmoreland Road and Jefferson Boulevard early Saturday morning.

When first responders arrived at the intersection, they found several people injured.

Several people in the van were taken to a local hospital to be treated.

Police said the driver of the Chevy is a 16-year-old juvenile who was found to be intoxicated and charged with Intoxication Assault.

The front passenger of the Chevy sustained severe injuries, police said.

Dallas police are still investigating the crash.
