Kids in Plano are starting the school year by spreading kindness.

A group of students met Thursday at a playground to paint positive messages on rocks. The rocks will be placed around Carlisle Elementary School with the idea to lift the spirits of others.

“I put like love, laugh and did like a sun,” 9-year-old Cole Thomas explained. “It makes me feel good because I’m helping other people.”

“If somebody’s having a bad day they can read one of the rocks and it makes them feel better,” added Emery Leblanc.

Kindness Rocks is an art project popular on social media. Many people post photos with the hashtag #kindnessrocks.
