Officer-involved shooting outside Fort Worth strip club
A man is in fair condition after he was shot by a Fort Worth police officer outside a strip club early Wednesday.
The officer confronted the man about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday morning outside Bucks Cabaret, near I-35W and Meacham Boulevard, in North Fort Worth.
Police said they saw a disturbance in the parking lot while on patrol in the area and saw what appeared to be a large crowd about to fight. The officers arrived on scene and ordered the crowd to disperse from inside their vehicle, but people ignored the request according to police.
Officers then heard a gunshot from the area, so they exited their car and moved toward the crowd. One officer saw a man with a gun pointed toward the crowd and decided he was a threat to the people gathered, so the officer fired his weapon twice
The man fell to the ground, but was pulled inside a truck he had been standing next to by someone inside the truck. The suspect left with two friends who drove him to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
The two friends and a third person at the scene are being questioned by detectives, but police said many other people at the scene fled before police could talk to them about what occurred.
