Officer fires shots during drug sting in Dallas
DALLAS - An undercover state drug agent fired shots at a car in northwest Dallas Monday night.
The officer said the driver drove toward him in a parking lot near Empire Central and Interstate 35E around 11:30 p.m. The officer’s gunfire did not hit anyone and the car took off.
Two people were arrested after a chase and three others at the scene were taken into custody. One suspect got away, but the search for him has been called off for now.
Texas Department of Public Safety’s Sgt. Lonny Haschel said the agents recovered about 2 pounds or $100,000 of methamphetamine.
He talked about the charges the suspects could face.
"The preliminary investigation reveals you have that attempted assault on a police officer, so there's one. You've got possession of the drugs and then whatever else they come up with. So it's still early to determine exactly what they're going to do," he said.
The investigation is ongoing.
