The Dallas police officer who was shot and killed Saturday night in a Dallas apartment has been identified as a six-year veteran of the force.
A police spokesman said Officer Larry Tuttle was murdered inside his apartment in the 9700 block of Forest Lane by a woman he knew.
Investigators believe the woman killed herself after she shot Tuttle.
A 6-year-old child was also found unharmed inside the apartment. The child is now in the care of Child Protective Services.
Police are still investigating what prompted the murder-suicide.
Officer Tuttle joined the Dallas Police Department six years ago. He worked out of the South Central Patrol Division.
The name of the woman has not yet been released.
