News crew almost hit by careless driver during live report
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado - The focus of a story in Colorado quickly shifted after a driver nearly hit a news crew during a live shot.
KRDO Reporter Krystal Story and Photojournalist Pete Miller were reporting on a shooting in Colorado Springs on Tuesday. They were doing a live report when they can be seen jumping out of the way of a vehicle.
The driver wound up hitting a police cruiser and stopping further down the street.
"That's what I remember is like, ‘How bad is this gonna hurt?’” Story said. “And then I see the car driving by me and I think, 'What just happened?!’"
"You hear the vehicle hitting the police cruiser and then look back, see the lights,” Miller recalled. “All you can do is just react to it. That’s the only thing that saved our lives."
Police say Michael Brown, 51, was driving.
Miller managed to pick up his camera and record police officers approach the vehicle with guns drawn.
Brown was arrested for an outstanding traffic warrant and for driving without a license.
