New apartments for UT Dallas students not ready for move-in day
The new school year is off to a rocky start for some students at the University of Texas at Dallas.
New apartments across from campus are still not ready for students to move in, even though classes start on Monday.
Officials say the rainy weather has been the big reason for delays. In the meantime, students are being put in two hotels.
Move-in Day on Thursday was not exactly how hundreds of UT Dallas students planned.
"We just weren't ready,” said Project Developer Michael Jackson. “Construction team wasn't able to get the project finished."
The privately developed apartment complex at the Richardson campus is set to serve UTD’s booming student population.
An email on Thursday delivered the news of the delay to 700 students. Instead of move-in ready digs, their belongings were moved to storage.
Construction is set to be completed in a couple of weeks.
