Man who attempted to rape Dallas woman outside apartment arrested
Dallas police have arrested a man they said smiled at a woman before trying to rape her at a Dallas apartment complex on Sunday.
Brandon Tarrant, 26, was arrested by Dallas police on Thursday afternoon after numerous tips from the public.
Tarrant was seen in Sunday morning surveillance video from the Swiss Air Apartments on Swiss Avenue in Old East Dallas. Police believed he was trying to get into the locked complex when he spotted the victim walking from the parking lot and tackled her.
The victim told police he tried to rape her -- but was stopped by a Good Samaritan who happened to be walking by.
Tarrant’s bright red shoes were the most notable item in surveillance camera footage that saw him attempting to get inside the complex.
Tarrant now faces a charge of attempted aggravated sexual assault, a second degree felony.
